Final

For my final project, I was inspired by Lauri Simmons. Some of Simmons’ photographs are of paper models with paper people who move throughout the different scenes. I really liked the element of “fakeness” in her work with all of the paper cutouts and I wanted to mimic that in my photos.

Rather than using the same people in each scene, I chose to make different scenes with different people. The scenes are of a specific type of space, and the people are specific occupations, which you can see from the clothes they wear. Instead of matching the scene to the occupation, I chose to mix them up while making sure there was something to connect the two. My final five choices were a butcher in an operating room, a tattoo artist in a museum, a doctor in sculpture studio, a pharmacist in an ally, and a construction worker in a makeup studio.
